When we have hope, our fear diminishes which keeps us focused on the future. So no matter what we face, whether it is living with a chronic illness, a physical limitation, and/or facing a family issue, having hope gives us the strength to keep going. This allows us to move our “mountains”.
Faith is not the power of positive thinking; It is Believing in God and trusting that His will is always best even when you cannot understand why. Sheri Howeton
Positive thinking is not a bad habit to get into as it can keep your mind set in the right frame of mind, but that alone will not bring your goals to fruition. Having faith on the other hand, can and will keep you moving until you reach your goals and even take you beyond them. Without faith you cannot have hope and without hope we get stuck and cannot move forward. Living with any type of chronic illness can drag you down, cause you to lose hope, leaving us feeling like it will never get better. But as you will see from the short videos below, having hope, faith and with some work you can reach your goals and even more..
This was my core/leg flutter in Jan. 2021.
This was my core/leg flutter in March 2021. My overall balance has improved even still. Over the past 4 years I have gone from barely being able to stand and walk. Getting down on the ground was impossible in the beginning. Now it is much easier to get down on the ground and back up again.
This was the first time I attempted a plank in early Jan. 2021
This was on March 22, 2021. The improvement is amazing. With loss of proprioception this should not even be possible. Although, over the last 4 years I have regained some ability to tell where my limbs are in space as new neuropathways have been created.
I have improved on so many levels over the last 4 years. I have prayed, hoped, and pushed myself to keep getting better. It has not always been easy. I have had many bouts where pain has prevented me from being able to do much of anything. It is difficult to be positive all the time and yes, I succumb to doubt and anxiety. But as soon as I begin to pray my hope soon returns and I come to my senses remembering the set back is only temporary. No matter what obstacle we must overcome it is always possible with God by our side.
Thank you for taking the time to read my blog, God bless!
Something as simple as a smile can transform someone’s day. It can even change your own day. So, take a moment and share a 😃 smile with a co-worker, friend, family, and/or a stranger. It can make a difference.
No matter what we are facing, we choose our limits. Even on high pain days, we have a choice. We can let our pain stop us, or we can take time to rest, believe that tomorrow will be better, and keep moving forward.
Each breath we take is a blessing. Let’s not waste it. When we are faced with a chronic illness, a life altering disability, or anything that disrupts our daily lives, it’s challenging to see our blessings. When I have high pain days with lots of muscle spams and spasticity, I find it difficult to see my blessings. But through prayer and refocus, I begin to be more thankful and look at my blessings. This helps me better deal with my injury, pain and depression.
Life is tough, but we have the choice to live it or let it live us. We set our own limits; therefore, we can push forward even if it’s a tiny step or give up. Don’t let others, like our doctors and family, dictate what our lives are going to be. Instead, through prayer and refocus set your own goals because the possibilities are endless..
We all have the choice of who we spend our time with. Struggling with chronic illness and pain already tends to make life more difficult and often leaves us feeling down. When we hang out with negative people it only brings us
down more sucking the life out of us. Making us feel as if we cannot do much of anything. Instead, when we surround ourselves with positive people who encourage us, we flourish and succeed.
When positive people influence us, the help propel us forward. Whereas negative people cause us to doubt ourselves and we become stuck. By staying in a positive mode, we focus our attention on what we can do instead of what we cannot do. This usually keeps our mindset on the positive things making our ability to handle pain, our illness, and our other deficits much easier. It also causes us to push forward and work harder towards our goals.
By choosing to have positive people in our lives we improve our chances of a positive life. When we are around people who encourage us and bring us up, we feel better overall. When we feel better, we feel stronger and are ready to face new challenges. This allows us to move forward and strive for new heights. So, please do not make the mistake of keeping negative people around who will only bring you a negative life.
