About

My name is Denise Rogers I am an Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury and Chiari Malformation survivor. Almost 4 years ago, my life changed forever when I became disabled after having 8 surgeries on my Thoracic Spine from T2-T9 to remove the arachnoid cysts which were compressing my spinal cord. Currently, I have a Cyst(s) to Plueral Shunt, which drains the CSF from the arachnoid cysts to my left plueral sac. I continue to do my best to stay active and enjoy being outdoors, spending time with family and friends, crafting, writing, and gardening when I can.

In my professional life, I have retired from Health Care with over 26 years of experience.  I have worked in public health as well as in long term care and acute care.  I have a B.A. in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work. But my most important role is being a wife, mother, stepmother, and grandmother.

This blog is about doing everything possible to get my life back. Every day I am continuing to learn how to navigate life while living with my injuries and chronic pain. It is about dealing with depression while regaining self-confidence and learning to feel beautiful again at the same time as I continue to deal with doctors, insurance companies, medications, and treatments. Lots of prayer, family, and God help me get through it.

  1. Thanks for the follow, I especially like the article about the thyroid. is weight loss a symptom? I have all the symptoms except the weight gain and have always had trouble keeping my weight where it should be.

  2. Hi Denise! Thank you for following my blog and I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say. Based on what I’ve read so far we have much in common so I look forward to getting to know you through your writings. Best wishes to you and God bless.
